Learn traditional drawing skills with award winning artist Pilar de la Torre, who has a deep passion for sharing her skills and insights with her many students.
In this course, students will come to understand the importance of structural approaches to drawing as a starting point for strong development in this field.
Over the course of this program you will learn:
- How to translate what you see into a recognisable picture.
- How to use different drawing materials including pencil, charcoal and pastels.
- An introductory understanding of tone, form, perspective and composition.
- How to express yourself using formal techniques to create articulate images.
Students will draw from a variety of references that may include:
- Still Life Set Ups
- Master drawings
- Life Models
- Outdoor landscapes (weather permitting)
This class is perfect for beginners and intermediate students who wish to understand how to develop their approach to the challenging process of drawing. We highly recommend that students repeat this class over the course of 2 - 3 terms. Pilar will offer return students more complexity in each project as your progress.
