Develop a true understanding of oil paints and how to use them with award winning artist Pilar de la Torre, who has a deep passion for sharing her skills and insights with her many students.
In this course, students will develop the necessary skills in using this traditional medium that has been celebrated for centuries.
Over the course of this program you will learn:
- How to use this medium safely.
- How to make your own oil paint so as to understand its properties.
- How to mix a wide range of colours using a minimal amount of base colours.
- How to paint simple still life setups and portraits on canvas paper, self primed boards and basic canvas.
This class is perfect for beginners and intermediate students who wish to understand how to develop their approach of painting in oils. We highly recommend that students repeat this class over the course of 2 - 3 terms. Pilar will offer return students more complexity in each project as your progress. This class compliments the morning drawing program.
