Open Studio for Developing Artists | Term 1
Course details

Join artist and teacher, Swathi Madike in our Open Studio for Developing Artists course, who will guide you through your projects both creatively and technically.
Exclusively working in oil paint, Swathi follows traditional techniques but uses them to depict people in a contemporary style. Elevating the stories behind the faces, she loves the idea of turning dirt and oil into the illusion of a face on a canvas. Classically trained, Swathi attended formal training at Studio Escalier, France, Julian Ashton Art School, Sydney and the Florence Academy of Art, Italy. Since then she, has participated in group exhibitions including the A.M.E Bale and was recently awarded the Norma Bull Prize 2021.
In this course we invite students to bring in personal works in progress or previously commenced projects in the forms on Painting and Drawing. Students are also welcome to commence something new in class with the assistance of the tutor.
These sessions will be suitable for anyone who is interested in a course that develops observational skills and fundamental artistic skills while maintaining a degree of flexibility for creativity. This course will give you the opportunity to use our professional art facilities in a group environment outside of your regular art course sessions.
